The Best Birthday Ever!

So... you'll never guess what Matt bought me for my birthday this year...

A house!

Well, we have a contract on a house. It's quite old and needs a lot of work but we got a heck of a deal. We have the inspection scheduled for Wednesday and hopefully things will go well and we'll start moving forward. We're super excited. There are 4 bedrooms, so we've got plenty of room for guests! In other news (a.k.a. the real reason you visit our blog)...

Bryce is just about ready to crawl.

He's an expert at yoga.

He's also decided two or three toys to play with are not sufficient. He'll take the whole toy basket, please.

He's also discovered funny faces that make Mama and Daddy laugh.

And he's used the potty a few times! Matt and I have an knack for changing his diaper before he's completely finished with his business so we've taken to just sticking him on the toilet. Works for me!

And here's a cute picture of my boy in Slumberland. He loves his blankie. (And yes, he's still sleeping in a pack n play; his crib is on backorder. Don't judge me!)

This weekend we took Bryce to his first NCHA cutting.

I think Bryce was more interested in his Papaw than the horses and cows.

Moving, A Little Late

Well, we moved to Fort Worth a month ago but, for what it's worth, here are some pictures of the move. Texas was kind enough to dump a foot of snow in DFW the day before we drove up so traveling up here and moving in was just delightful.

First, we stopped by my stepmom's parents for some long-overdue introductions.

Then we drove into the snow.

Our friend, Jon, helped us move. Again. Poor Jon.

Bryce supervised, of course.

Then we spent some time exercising. He was beat.

Then we took our first trip to the zoo. Of all the exciting things there, Bryce loved the water.

Photo op with Mama.

And Granny.

I have a bunch of funny videos so I'm working on getting those up soon. Here's an update on what Bryce has been up to since we got back to Texas:
  • Rolling from his tummy to his back (right after we arrived in Texas).
  • Shaking his head (like he's saying, "No."
  • Flirting with the ladies at Daddy's work.
  • Flirting with the ladies at Walmart.
  • Sucking on his toes.
  • Did I mention flirting with the ladies?
  • Rolling from his back to his tummy (just last week).
  • Scooting in a circle on his tummy.
  • Trying to scoot forward, but scooting backward.
We're still searching for a house to make a home. Matt took his PhD entrance exam and interview and is waiting to hear back. He's also working as the Director of the Naylor Student Center at Southwestern. To say he's busy might be a slight understatement. I'm finding out just how busy stay-at-home moms can be. Especially while looking for a house. Hopefully the next post will be a little more timely. Thanks for sticking with us!

UPDATE: I've posted some photos and videos here.
