Sightseeing in Budapest

Sorry we haven't posted in a while. We've been busy trying to establish some kind of normal. Anyway, my mom was so disappointed that Bryce didn't get to wear his special outfit home from the hospital after he was born so we made sure he wore it 'home' after his surgery. Isn't he cute?

After getting clearance from Bryce's surgeon, we went to look around Budapest on our last day there. Budapest really is a beautiful city, even if Bryce saw it only from his stroller.

Up at Castle Hill.

Granny taking pictures.

The beautiful Parliament building on the Blue Danube, the longest river in the European Union.

Me and my mom.

Our little family.

A view of Parliament and Margit Island.

Buda Castle.

And sleepy smiles back in our own bed (or in Mommy and Daddy's bed).

He's Out!!

We are so grateful to all of you for your prayers for Bryce and us over the last few weeks. We really couldn't have made it without being lifted up by you guys. We are now home in Prague!! Bryce was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday with orders to follow up with a pediatrician here in Prague. According to the surgeon, he is basically recovered and shouldn't have any lasting effects from the surgery. We left this morning and arrived home this evening in time for the appointment with the pediatrician. Everything looks good so far and we'll see her again in a week. Bryce is back to nursing and making poopy diapers like a pro. We're hoping this is the end of our dramatic adventures. We're so happy to be home and are looking forward to sleeping in our own beds (Bryce has actually only spent two nights in his own bed). Thank you all again for your prayers and support.

Happy 3 Weeks, Bryce!

Bryce is 3 weeks old today! For his birthday present he gets to eat! He'll get 2 ml of glucose (sugar water) first, then a little more a few hours later, and so on. If he keeps it all down, they'll mix Mommy's milk with the glucose and try that tomorrow until he's just drinking milk. Please pray he keeps it all down because if he vomits, the process starts over from the beginning. Thanks!

More Updates

Well, we survived our first full day/night in the hospital. Bryce's surgery went really well. The doctor only had to make a small half-circle incision above his belly button. The cyst (a duplication of his small intestine) was incorporated with the blood supply to the intestine so they had to remove 5 cm (about 2 inches) of his small intestine. He doesn't seem to be in much pain so far today - an improvement from yesterday. He won't be able to eat until Friday when they will give him clear liquids to see how he handles it. If he does well with that, he can get milk on Saturday. We're not sure yet if they'll let me nurse him or feed him with a bottle. So we're praying for zero complications between now and then. Until then, he's going to town on his pacifier. They're keeping him hydrated and energized through his IV with fluids and glucose. I was able to stay in the hospital with him last night and they've agreed to let me, Matt, and my mom rotate sitting with him. The hospital is not as accommodating as those in the states so sleeping options in his room are either a chair or a pad on the floor. I opted for the floor last night and was able to get a few minutes of dozing here and there. Most of the nurses and doctors are very attentive and compassionate, though so we praise God for that. Please continue to pray for quick recovery and healing and no complications or infection. Thanks so much everyone!
